About me
Let me introduce myself.
My name is Maaike Oltheten. I was born and raised in Leiden, the Netherlands.
In July 2015 I graduated from the Technical University in Delft in the direction of ‘The Architecture of the Interior’. This direction is concerned with the study of large complex interiors: the spaces that represent our time and are central to the experience of the contemporary public realm. The main reason why I choose to graduate in this direction is that this studio also studies the users, their needs, desires and behaviour.
After two years of traveling back and forth between the Netherlands and Berlin, I decided to move to Berlin. During the last two years I felt in love with this city and it felt like a good opportunity to discover this city after my graduation.
Next to Architecture, I love to travel. I am curious about new cultures, ways of life. This also leads to new perspectives. During my studies I have discovered a big part of Asia, did an internship in Kenia and organised a study trip to Boston, Montreal, Toronto and New York.
At the moment I am looking for a job in architecture in Berlin. My main interest is the redevelopment of existing buildings from the point of view of the user, but as I am looking for my first job in the field of architecture, I am interested in all areas of architecture.
